Brian Cavey is leaving the rarefied atmosphere of Washington's Capitol Hill for the Big Sky of Montana. He will be the new executive vice president of the Montana Motor Carrier Assn.

Mr. Carvey (pictured) replaces Ben Havdahl, who will retire before the next legislative session begins in January.

A native of Montana, Mr. Carvey is an aide to Montana's senior U.S. senator, Max Baucus, a Democrat. As legislative director for Mr. Baucus, he was involved in the passage of the big highway bill, the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century.

"Having been a part of my boss's work with the TEA-21 bill this year, I welcome the opportunity to go home and see how it's implemented on the ground and make it work better for Montana," he said.

"I look forward to the chance to work on behalf of an important sector of the Montana economy and having a chance to do that from Montana," Mr. Cavey added.
