Michelin Launches New Wide-Base Trailer Tire
The new Michelin X One Multi Energy T, which is verified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay program, reduces irregular wear while enabling fleets to carry more than 700 pounds of additional freight versus dual applications, the company said.
Michelin said the new tire’s design mitigates uneven wear by changing the casing shape during use to maintain a consistent contact patch, regardless of payload weight.
The Michelin X One Multi Energy T tire also improves fuel economy by providing a 15% reduction in rolling resistance compared with the Michelin X One XTE, the tire it replaces.
The new tire is available now in the 445/50R22.5 size. The 455/50R22.5 size will be available in early 2015, the company said.
