Lazer Logistics has to expand its operations in the Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth markets.

The Alpharetta, Ga.-based yard management provider announced the purchase of NetCorp Trailers, EJR Logistics and Stein & Sons Cartage Contractors, adding more than 20 long-standing customer relationships and expanding its capabilities in trailer leasing, yard spotting and shorthaul shuttling. The acquisition marks Lazer’s 13th and supports the company’s broader strategy to grow service density and geographic reach across North America.

“This acquisition increases our density and expands our service capabilities in both regions,” Lazer CEO Adam Newsome said. “The proven teams and operations of NetCorp, EJR and Stein & Sons align seamlessly with our existing network. Together, we’ll deliver even greater reliability, efficiency and value to our customers — powered by our industry-leading technology.”

Lazer ranks No. 75 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest logistics companies in North America.

The three acquired companies have operated since 2004 and served customers across two of the country’s most competitive logistics hubs. All existing operations will continue under Lazer’s umbrella, with a transition described by both parties as seamless and nondisruptive.

“For more than 20 years, we’ve built our reputation on dependable service, safe drivers and trusted relationships in the Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth areas,” said Peter Stein, co-founder and CEO of the acquired companies. “Joining Lazer allows us to grow that legacy with expanded resources, technology and opportunities for both our customers and our employees.”

Founded in 1996, Lazer provides yard management services including trailer spotting, shuttling, trailer rental and leasing, gate management, drayage and YMS technology. The company also operates the largest outsourced fleet of battery-electric spotters in North America, offering end-to-end electric vehicle support including purchasing, maintenance and grant management.

The acquisition pushes Lazer’s total fleet past 11,000 units and expands its national platform, which now includes more than 700 locations and 5,800 employees. The company operates more than 9 million service hours annually.
