FMCSA Reverses Skills Test Rule for Truck Driving Schools

[Stay on top of transportation news: .]

The rule prohibiting truck driving schools from skill-testingÌýtheir own students has been reversed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, American Trucking Associations said Tuesday.

ATA had challenged the May 2011 rule, claiming it was too burdensome.

Truck driving schools may now skill-train and skill-test the same drivers, but the schools must use different instructors for the training and testing, according to ATA.

States can begin implementing the change starting April 24.
