EPA Says 250 New ’07 Trucks Being Tested by Fleets
ASHINGTON — Some 250 vehicles of all classes equipped with 2007 engines are now in the hands of customers for real-world testing, according to Byron Bunker of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Transportation Air Quality.
Bunker led a panel of federal and industry officials reporting on progress toward the next round of heavy-duty diesel engine emission reductions, which take effect Jan. 1. The panel was a featured technical session of the Society of Automotive Engineers’ three-day government-industry meeting here last week.
Thirty-four of those 250 vehicles are Freightliners, Western Stars and Sterlings with Detroit Diesel Series 60, ’07-compliant engines.
