Daimler Truck Holding AG and General Dynamics Land Systems Inc. are expanding their partnership on military vehicles to capture more contracts as defense spending climbs worldwide.

The tie-up centers on Daimler’s Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks unit, which builds the Zetros and Unimog off-road trucks used by NATO allies and other militaries. Working with General Dynamics, the unit will offer complete logistics vehicles and long-term service in Europe, North America and other markets, .

Defense suppliers are vying for a share of rising budgets as governments replace aging fleets and commit to decades of maintenance and support. Germany, which is boosting outlays to build Europe’s most powerful conventional military in response to Russia’s war in Ukraine, is among the nations driving demand.

“With General Dynamics at our side, we want to offer armies worldwide comprehensive solutions, from trucks with customized equipment to long-term service and support,” said Franziska Cusumano, chief executive of Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks.

The companies last year won Canada’s Logistics Vehicle Modernization Project alongside partners, securing a contract to supply more than 1,500 all-terrain trucks to the Canadian Armed Forces.
