Cross-Border Trade Rebounds Despite Tighter Security Rules

| Associate News Editorbout 13,000 trucks cross the 76-year-old Ambassador Bridge on a typical weekday, many of them carrying auto parts for just-in-time delivery or even finished vehicles.
But the bridge that links Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, also bears the weight of sludge and, on this day during a recent visit, horses and hogs.
“We do get a lot of trucks,” said Chief Ronald Smith of U.S. Customs and Border Protection while walking the secondary inspection lot on the Detroit side.
