Joseph Dagnese, new president of Con-way Freight

Con-way Inc. said Joseph Dagnese has been named president of Con-way Freight, its largest unit, to replace Greg Lehmkuhl, who resigned.

Dagnese is moving to the less-than-truckload unit, which accounts for about two-thirds of revenue, immediately from his post as president of Con-way Truckload. The statement from Con-way said Lehmkuhl, who spent nearly four years as president of Con-way Freight, is leaving “to pursue an opportunity as chief executive officer of a private equity-owned company,” the carrier’s statement said.

Dagnese has worked more than 30 years in transportation, including two decades at Con-way. He was named Con-way Truckload’s president last year.

“Joe brings an impressive array of lean management skills, strategic insight and leadership qualities to Con-way Freight,” Con-way Inc. CEO Douglas Stotlar said��in a statement, “His unique background and broad experience across the Con-way organization provide continuity to our lean journey while driving continued progress with our growth and improvement initiatives at Con-way Freight.”

Con-way ranks No. 4 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
