August Heavy-Duty Truck Sales Rise 24.3%
ugust U.S. Class 8 truck sales jumped 24.3% over last year’s pace, the 22nd consecutive year-over-year increase.
But some analysts and company officials said they were concerned that future sales could be dampened by rising fuel prices, a slowing economy and tougher federal emission standards.
Class 8 truck sales totaled 22,666 units in August, according to Ward’s Communications. For the first eight months of 2005, Class 8 truck sales totaled 164,762 units, a 31.4% increase from 2004.
