ACT Research Co. and Rhein Associates published the inaugural edition of a new cooperative venture, the North American On-highway Commercial Vehicle Engine Outlook.

The quarterly report presents historical trends, current activity and forecasts of engine demand in on-highway commercial vehicles, the companies said.

Also, it analyzes major trends in engine displacement, engine type —�� including diesel, gasoline and natural gas —�� captive versus noncaptive engines and premium versus nonpremium power for Class 8 vehicles, they said.

“With the impending Greenhouse Gas Phase��2��regulations, with the growth of vertical integration across the supply chain, and with the constant push for engine efficiencies and reduced emissions simultaneously, now seemed like the perfect opportunity to apply our models and expertise collaboratively to provide intel unlike any other available,” Ken Vieth, ACT’s senior partner and general manager, said in a statement.

“We are planning to research, analyze and forecast a variety of commercial vehicle engine-related characteristics in each quarterly issue, including current and future original equipment manufacturers offerings and the potential impact of engine-related regulations,” Tom Rhein, president, Rhein Associates, said in a statement.

Canton, Michigan-based Rhein Associates said it is a major supplier of powertrain information to worldwide clients enabling accurate and informed business decisions and marketing plans.
